ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

 

An Assistant Superintendent’s responsibility is to maintain an orderly project site, logistics, coordinate subcontractors, order necessary materials and supervise RCA labor. The ultimate goal is to run a productive, safe project and complete it on schedule and under budget.

 
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Superintendent and/or Project Manager regarding progress of the project.

  • Knows the subcontractor’s scopes and contracts.

  • Able to administer and direct the project workforce to accurately construct all aspects of the project to the requirements of the project drawings, specifications, schedules and other documents provided to complete the work.

  • Compiles and monitors Weekly Time Sheets for RCA workers.

  • Maintain RCA Safety Program, monitor workforce and visitors to assure a safe and accident free project.

  • Ensure that subcontractors understand job schedules and make every effort to meet them.

  • Review manpower requirements relative to meeting current job progress schedules, follow-up for timely delivery of materials to meet established schedules.

  • Place calls to subcontractors to schedule their manpower and start dates for each trade.

  • Provide subcontractor advanced check in on the 2’s: call and discuss the project plan with each subcontractor 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days in advance of their mobilization.

  • Responsible for documentation and the timely completion of the project punch list.

  • Responsible for organizing a pre-punch walk through with our subcontractors and for the close out of all permits.

  • Monitor the work to assure good quality control, and to make certain that work conforms to all plansand specifications, and is of good workmanship.

  • Responsible for ordering and expediting of material to be installed by RCA field personnel.

  • Responsible for recording all materials ordered on a material log for each project and forwarded to the Project Manager on a weekly basis.

  • Responsible for allocating labor dollars to the correct cost code in the most efficient manner with the intent to conduct a study of the bid when the project is complete to review possible items that were not originally included.

  • Review and monitor distribution of RFI’s, ASI’s , and changes to the field.

  • Administer RCA’s Safety Program; ensure subcontractor compliance and Generate project safety plan, and have the plan reviewed by the Safety Director.

  • Other duties as assigned.
